The media is fickle, those in power are lazy. I think you are really expecting too much from these people. Just because they take 40% of everything in taxes, and then pile up fees on top, doesn't mean you should expect anything from them.
Frankly, I would love single payer, but I don't trust these people to implement a turkey sandwich.
